4. Thomas PETTIT was born in 1610 in Widford, Essex Co., England. He was christened on 17 Apr 1614. He died in Oct 1688 in Newtown, Long Island, New York. Thomas was granted a house plot in Boston, on which the State House now stands. Thomas and his brother signed the Donegan Charter of New York.

He was married to Christian MELLOWS (daughter of Abraham MELLOWS and Martha BULKELEY) in Nov 1629 in Essex County, England. Christian MELLOWS was born in 1611 in Essex County, England. Christian MELLOWS was a descendant of King Edward I, Knight of the Garter, she was also a descendant of eight Sureties of the Magna Charta 1. Hugh Bigod, 2. Roger Bigod, 3. Henry De Bohun, 4. Gilbert De Clare, 5. Richard De Clare, 6. John De Lacie, 7. William De Lanvalle. and 8. Saire De Quincey.
