174. Nathaniel PETTIT Major - Rev. War was born in 1740 in Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He died in 1800 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Major Nathaniel Pettit was a millwright and a Major in the Revolutionary War. He was keeper of his father's horses in the Revolutionary War. On the night of December 25, 1776, he rode with Gen. Washington as they crossed the Delaware River to capture the British Troops.
